I've had my eye on the Dynafit DyNA EVO, since I've been so happy with the original DyNA (which I used for all of my skiing the first season I had it), and then the TLT5 for most of my non-rando race/train skiing in the two seasons since then. But that La Sportiva has been tempting me since it is just so beautifully crafted. Sounds though like all our granite rock scrambling out here in the spring to link up long ski tours would not be a good idea in them!Jonathan S. After a season of use, my conclusio...Hey Jonathan,

After a season of use, my conclusion is that the boots and skis are amazing for racing but the boots were a little too fragile to use for much else. They ski like a dream and the carbon is really quite beautiful but as expected, not as durable as needed. I cracked them a couple times while racing through some rocks and had some trouble with the rear lever coming off the boot (although for intended use on snow they always did great). And, Sportiva was awesome at fixing anything that went wrong. Sorry, I'm not sure of the BSL, I seem to recall low 280s??? The skis were like any race ski...short, skinny, stiff, straight, and light. They get the job done. Compared to Jason's EVOs, I think the main difference is comfort and weight. The EVOs gave him no issues as far as fit goes but my boots gave me black toenails. I think this is from being just a little small but also from the way the liner is secured inside the shell. Unfortunately, I could never secure the liner as well as I wanted and there seemed to be a some play between the two. Also, we ran through the same rocks and skied the same stuff and his don't look like they even have a scratch.

And then there's the Alien 1.0....

Review forthcoming....SLC sherpahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06591136079025670628noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4022327260553440775.post-61619939750417579992012-09-29T11:05:17.430-06:002012-09-29T11:05:17.430-06:00Curious for a post-season assessment, and also a c...Curious for a post-season assessment, and also a compare/contrast with Jason's Dynafit DyNA EVO boots?
Also, what is the bsl for your size 27 boots?Jonathan S. They ski and walk amazingly and climb rock well too due to the short rockered sole (although they got a bit scratched up but without any serious damage). As for a light rando type boot that can be used for mixed climbing, the TLT Performance (used in the pic you mention) is probably the best option right now as far and cost and durability but the Alien and Evo are also really intriguing. Next year, La Sportiva will also have similar options.

Have fun!

AndySLC sherpahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06591136079025670628noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4022327260553440775.post-72326480329220184092012-01-31T06:04:23.164-07:002012-01-31T06:04:23.164-07:00Hi,

Do you have any further comments to add after using them more?
Relating to the beautiful picture on the top of your blog, do you have recommendation for best boot for combined ski-rando / mixed climbing ?
I have been using Koflach plastic boot, which are OK for climbing, great for skinning up, but suck for descents. Now they are worn out and Koflach doesn't exist anymore. So any recommendations would be great.
Thanks
HenrikAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4022327260553440775.post-26861516105695615782012-01-17T11:57:27.961-07:002012-01-17T11:57:27.961-07:00Bonjour,
